Nigeria’s Prophet TB Joshua has dismissed reports that he released a prophecy that President Joyce Banda would only be in office for another two years after the 2014 Tripartite Elections.

Malawi will hold tripartite elections on May 20, 2014 in which Banda faces a strong test from other presidential aspirants.

A Facebook statement issued on Saturday by TB Joshua’s the Synagogue Church of All Nations (Scoan) described the rumours as mischievous.

“Rumours spreading around that Malawi’s President Joyce Banda has received a prophecy from Prophet TB Joshua that she will only be President for another two years after the 2014 elections are totally false.

“Do not listen to the father of lies, the sons of lies and the daughters of lies,” the statement stressed.

Banda arrived at Scoan in Lagos, Nigeria on Friday for prayers, making this her second visit in recent weeks to Prophet TB Joshua.

She was spotted on Scoan’s Emmanuel TV in the Synagogue on Sunday.

Earlier on Saturday, online media reports claimed Scoan leader Joshua told Banda that she could not win the 2014 presidential polls.

, quoting APA, reported that TB Joshua handed the prophesy to Banda on Saturday after she arrived in Nigeria for a prayer service on Friday.

The prophet reportedly told Banda that he cannot change the prophesy and urged her to prepare to leave the State House, reported StarAfrica.

The online media said despite of the President’s insistence that the prophesy be revised, TB Joshua said he could not do anything about it.

The President has visited the church leader about seven times in Nigeria since she came to power in April 2012 in line with constitutional order after the death of former president Bingu wa Mutharika.

Banda went to Nigeria on a three-day private visit. She was expected back home on Sunday.

Speaking shortly before her departure at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) on Friday, Banda said as the year comes to an end, she wanted to reflect on what happened in 2013 and pray for the nation.

“As you aware, in period like this, I go to Nigeria for prayers. This is not new to those who know me,” she said.

“There is need for Malawi to ask for God’s intervention on what lies ahead in the coming year,” the President continued.

  1. Malawi has become a laughing stock to the whole world because we are being led by a leader who is at the mercy of conmen all the time and she doesn’t even know about it. I know that some of us might argue that it is her prerogative to worship anywhere, anytime and with whomever she wishes to worship with and that’s true. But what angers me personally is the fact that taxpayers’ money is being wasted in form of allowances for her entourage at the same time that we do not have enough resources in our schools and hospitals. Can some patriotic person in govt stand up to this woman and make sure that all expenses for this trip including air ticket fares, accommodation and food for the whole entourage comes off her backside. This silly woman is more concerned about her political survival at the expense of the welfare of Malawians. I can’t wait to cast my vote and vote her out of office and I hope that all sensible Malawians with the welfare of their fellow country men at heart feels the same.
